Going on international mobility

Sciences Po Strasbourg puts international outlook at the heart of its education by building mobility into the academic curriculum. All students spend their third year abroad at one of our 140 partner universities around the world.

During the second cycle of their studies, students can take part in further international experiences, through an internship abroad or by joining one of our double Master's degrees.

Financial aid is available to support mobility, and Sciences Po Strasbourg guides its students through their applications for the various scholarship schemes.

The third year of the degree is built around compulsory mobility abroad.
Two mobility options are available:

· a full academic year at a partner university;
· or a mixed mobility track combining one semester of study at a partner university and a 4- to 6-month internship in a company, public administration or association abroad.

Thanks to our numerous exchange agreements, students on academic mobility pay only the tuition fees of Sciences Po Strasbourg, not those of the host university abroad.

Beyond validating an academic year that completes the first cycle (Bachelor’s level), this immersion abroad exposes students to a different university system, a new social environment and a different culture.

Students receive personalized support from the International Relations Office to prepare their departure project, which begins in the first year. In the second year, information sessions and workshops help them refine their choice of destination and prepare their applications and then their departure.

It is also possible to undertake international mobility during the second cycle (Master’s level).
This optional mobility most often takes the form of an end-of-studies internship abroad, completed in the second semester of the Master 2 (the fifth year of the Diploma).
Alternatively, students can complete their second cycle through one of our double degrees, which offer structured international mobility and are part of specific Master’s tracks. These programs make it possible to combine a new experience abroad with specialization in targeted themes.

During academic mobility (third year or Master’s double degree), students remain enrolled at Sciences Po Strasbourg and therefore pay the usual tuition fees, as in their other years of study. With rare exceptions, no additional tuition fees are charged by the host university.

However, some costs may be required by partner universities and vary depending on the destination: administrative fees, public transport passes, purchase of books, specific insurance policies, etc.

Students should also budget for expenses related to their passport, visa and insurance.

The cost of housing varies greatly from one destination to another. Many universities offer rooms in university residences; some students choose, or need, to live off campus, particularly in shared housing.

Sciences Po Strasbourg supports students in their preparations by making it easier to access information about partner universities, notably through testimonials from previous cohorts and exchanges with incoming and outgoing mobility students.
